Mindset Hack to Reach Goals Faster

The Gajer Practice Blogs

Dear readers,

In a previous blog post, I outlined a framework for working with your mindset to help you achieve goals. Today, I’d like to delve deeper into the second step I described: Practicing Gratitude. When we’re striving towards a goal, it’s easy to become overly fixated on how far we have left to go. Often, we neglect to celebrate the smaller victories along the way, choosing instead to wait for that ultimate achievement to feel happy.

Have you ever poured your heart and soul into achieving something significant, only to find that it didn’t quite evoke the feelings you had anticipated? It’s a common pitfall if we don’t allow ourselves to acknowledge and celebrate the small wins that pave the way. We tend to set goals with the belief that they will bring about certain emotions or changes in our lives. But in reality, for that success to yield the desired results, we must learn to cultivate some of those feelings even before the goal is fully realized. While the achievement itself may not fundamentally change us, the journey towards it offers opportunities for self-care and personal growth.

When envisioning your goal, take a moment to reflect on the emotions you hope to experience upon its attainment. Write down in detail how you imagine feeling once you reach that milestone. For instance, if your goal is to fit into a size 10 dress, visualize how you will feel. Will you exude confidence? Will your energy levels soar? Will you move more freely, free from joint pain? Will selecting clothes become a joyous experience?

Next, take stock of areas in your life where you already experience those desired feelings, and express gratitude for them. Reflect on past achievements and allow yourself to bask in the satisfaction of your accomplishments. For instance, perhaps your consistent gym attendance has made climbing stairs a breeze, or your commitment to a whole-food diet has left your skin glowing.

Try this writing exercise:

Create two columns: one for what you’re celebrating and another for what you’re eager to experience. This exercise primes your mind for continued success and fosters a mindset of gratitude and abundance.

Remember, life offers ample reasons for gratitude and excitement. Don’t rush too hastily towards your next goal; let the journey shape you into the best version of yourself. Embrace the process, celebrate the victories, and relish in the journey towards your aspirations.

Here’s to a healthier, happier you!

Is Alzheimer’s Disease Type 3 Diabetes? What You Can Do to Protect Your Brain Health

There’s an emerging field of research that’s shedding new light on Alzheimer’s disease—and it may have a lot to do with insulin resistance.
